Battle Report Sarna 3029

Hello All,

I wanted to share this Battletech after action report.  I am playing my hybrid version of Alpha strike and Classic Battletech.  I call it Beta Strike, between Classic and Alpha…get it.   ðŸ˜Š

The Background:

3029, 4th Succession War, Sarna, Gray River

A lance of the 3rd Battalion 5th Syrtis Fusiliers is attempting to break out of the forest region of the Gray river in desperate attempt to find a safe evac zone. They are fleeing the continued artillery and fighter attacks behind them.  A demi company of the 3rd MAC is moving in to close the trap.  The Federated suns forces must break through if they have any chance of surviving.

The Forces:

 3rd MAC - Regular

Thunderbolt

Catapult

Shadowhawk

Vindicator

Vindicator

Locust

5th Syrtis Fusiliers  - Vet

Quickdraw

Quickdraw

Jagermech

Jagermech

For orientation the Davion forces entered form the bottom (South) side of the map while the MAC forces entered from the top (North).  The Quickdraws moved along the wooded Western map edge using their powerful jumpjets to cover a large distance while still staying in cover.  The Jagermechs moved onto the road to apply the long-range firepower of their ACs.  The armor piercing rounds of the Jagermechs scored an early critical engine heat on the Thunderbolt.  The return fire from the MAC mechs stripped the armor of one and it fell back to cover of the cliff wall.  The Thunderbolt moved into the ruins to get away from the AC fire.  The first blood went to the MAC.

The Locust had sprinted down the Eastern edge of the map to get behind the damaged Jagermech.  While the Jagermech did a quick arm flip to bring its guns to bear and even damaged the light mech’s gyro; the twin heavy machine guns found something inside much more volatile.

Critical Hit…AMMO!

The Fusiliers quickly claimed revenge as the combined firepower of the Quickdraws and the other Jagermech finally brought down 1st Vindicator.  While it was already heavily damaged the mech also suffered a classic 3025 death.

 Critical Hit…AMMO!

The battle shifted to the Northwest with the MAC focusing to the Quickdraws.  A lucky round of initiative allowed the lead Quickdraw to jump behind the Catapult.  This lead to the Shadowhawk leaping behind the Quickdraw.  A massive barrage of cannon, laser, PPC, and missile fire erupted as well as some classic mech brawling.  The Catapult was forced to withdraw, the Quickdraw was stripped of its armor, the Vindicator took heavy damage from the Jagermech who itself Jagermech took damage from the Thunderbolt. Mechs were on the razor’s edge.

The last Jagermech continued its ponderous movement through the woods while Quickdraws stayed on the edge of the board to support it.  The Shadowhawk and Vindicator attempted to bring down the exposed Quickdraw but jumping combined with woods meant most of their firepower did not connect.  The Thunderbolt stripped the armor of the Jagermech but at the cost of a massive heat buildup that would cause it to shut down.  The last Vindicator took a beating from the combined firepower of the Fusiliers.

The lead Quickdraw did not wish to press its luck and jumped of the board.  The Shadowhawk and Vindicator faced off against the last Quickdraw.  The firefight between them would see the Vindicator join his comrade in the scrap heap while leaving the Quickdraw without armor. In the meantime, the Locust had managed to reach the damaged Jagermech and get to point blank range…machine gun range!

The Jagermech poured firepower into the Locust but failed to bring it down.  The Locust opened with all its weapons and the found the Jagermech’s “tickle” spot with a barrage of heavy machine gun fire.

 Critical Hit…AMMO!

With its last teammate down the Quickdraw withdraw from the board.

The Tally:

Davion, 2 Destroyed, 50% of the force escaped.

MAC, 2 Destroyed, 1 withdrawn, 1 in a heat induced coma

A fun game and I thank my friend for playing.  In total we played six turns in 1.5 hours.  I await the next match up as I contemplate if I was wrong to bring back detailed crit tables. ðŸ˜Š

Thank you and enjoy.
